I was talking with a co-worker today about Miller’s Outpost. Anyone remember them? They were huge in the 80’s. That’s where I got most of my clothes as a teenager. Now they don’t exist. That started the conversation which led to, ” remember Montgomery Wards, Woolworths, Zody’s. These companies don’t exist anymore yet 20-40 years ago they were huge. Nobody could comprehend the absence of these places.
It’s a fact of life, no matter how impossible it seems nothing lasts forever. I thought about what my son may see pass in his lifetime. Will I be 60 years old and have him say, “dad, remember Wal-Mart” or ” whatever happened to Best Buy?”
I guess it just proves that you have to live for right now. The future holds something for all of us but who knows what it is. If you had told me at 18 that I’d wouldn’t be able to buy my Levi’s at Miller’s Outpost before I was 40 I’d of thought you were crazy.
