Lefties are all right.

Is today April 1st? No, it’s the 17th…wait a minute, what is this? A left handed pickup? C’mon…that’s a joke right? (pun) Well the fine folks at Tonerider have made a pickup specifically for left handed guitarists.

Back in the day when I sold guitars at a music store we used to joke with each other (and some customers) about adding a left handed cable to a sale of a lefty guitar. Then of course there are the left handed picks, left handed slides, and if you really want to throw down the cash you can get a left handed amp. We thought we were soooooo funny. Well apparently this is serious stuff.

The magnet pole pieces on a standard strat pickup are staggered. If you simple install a normal pickup into a lefty guitar the staggered pole pieces are all in the wrong places. This may or may not matter to you but I guess it matters enough to lefties to warrant this product.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Until then, I’m holding off the left handed fuzz pedal I’ve been designing.
