Happy 4th of July

old glory

I Can’t believe it’s July 4th already. Man this year is flying by. I’ll be playing with my buddy Dusty Alibi at a gig at an undisclosed location. No it’s not a super secret celebrity gig, I just don’t know where it’s at. I’ll find out in the morning.

I hope everyone enjoys their day celebrating the birth of our nation with friends and family. Pool parties, barbeque’s, and fireworks are the order of the day. I’m sure many of you will be playing music and many more will be listening.

I’d like to take a moment to talk about what living in a free country such as ours means to me. As a musician, freedom is extremely important. While Tipper Gore and the PMRC may have tried to exercise some control over what people listen to, on the whole, we are free to listen to and create whatever music suits us. Good, bad, offensive, silly, whimsical, political, whatever.

This blog is a testament to our freedom of speech. I can say whatever I want. I am accountable for my words but I am not bound by restrictions which limit what I can blog about. There may be some social backlash from readers if I hit a nerve but in the end, the KGB isn’t going to be kicking in my door because of an opinion expressed here.

This kind of freedom is often overlooked in our day to day life so take a moment today to think about all the things that we as a free country enjoy.

Happy 4th

Scott
