There is no argument that the 50’s and 60’s were the golden era for American car makers and for American guitar makers. The designs were spectacular, the colors so striking, and we all have a soft spot for a classic car and a vintage guitar.
The connection is more than coincidental though. During the golden era, the paint colors for these sweet rides and sublime axes were very connected. King Bee Guitars has a cool chart that shows Fender’s custom colors and the corresponding year and car maker.
I don’t know if there was magic in the air, the stars were aligned in some heavenly order, or if the muses just struck at the right time but many a fine guitar and automobile came from the golden era.
