Where does the content come from?
Posted by scottfrein on July 1, 2008
I know this blog is usually about music, guitars, gear, etc.. but I was thinking about the content and what I could add to it. As I read other music blogs, sites, and press releases I realized that many sites have the same content. They link to each other in some cases. So where does the content come from?
I try to provide posts that are not linked to any story I’ve seen but rather an opinion or topic I feel like writing about. Sure I have links to other sits and content but I would like to think my blog provides something different in that it is me writing the content.
So where do all the other stories originate from? I link to them, other blogs link to them? So who writes them? Is there a room somewhere with unknown, nameless writers frantically pounding away at their keyboards trying to get a story written?
This is the case with any subject on the new interweb version 2.0 whatever that means. Many blogs link to other blogs that link to a news site that links to another site and so on. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it, I just wonder if one day hop on to yahoo and there will just be a list of links to sites which link to other sites which link back to yahoo.
Only time will tell.

I’d like to know myself since it seems that as soon as I find some new little guitar tidbit to blog about, the news has been out for at least 3 days.
Cosmetically speaking, your blog is too busy. There’s too much stuff everywhere. Honestly, you could condense a lot of things into categories. For example, you could group your feeds together, put them on their own separate page with a link in the sidebar, or even make them a drop-down menu if you can.
The logo, while nice in its simplicity, is too big in comparison to the wide red rectangle behind it.
Also, you should really reorganize things. You’ve got a lot of cool shit in the sidebars (not to mention your awesome posts!!), but I can’t really find anything.
Granted, my site’s not the best on the web, but I try my best to keep things simple and organized. I’m not trying to bash you or anything; I just wanna give you some food for thought.
Keep posting!
