So long good friend.

It is a sad day in Petaluma and the world. Mesa/Boogie has officially discontinued the Mark IV. The latest in the Mark series is now retired along with all the Marks that have come before. While it is sad to see it go, it had a great production run. First introduced in 1991, the MKIV took all the lessons learned from the previous Mark series amps and combined the best traits as well as some new tricks.
It is unheard of to see an amp have a 17 year production run anymore. The MKIV went through a few minor changes in it’s life but stayed relatively unchanged for a long time. While many speculate the reasoning, the bottom line is, Mesa/Boogie had it’s reasons. Some hope there will be a MK V, some say it’s because the Recto is king in the metal world. I don’t know.
I am a proud owner and user of a MKIV. I can’t see myself letting this spectacular amp go anytime soon. As a life long Mesa/Boogie user I am eager to see what Randal Smith and the crew have come up with next. Only time will tell. Until then, I will continue to do what I do with the amp that was flagship of the line for nearly two decades.
